Madam Speaker, in Bill S-3, there is a requirement to introduce a 10-year review, a legislative review, to ensure that we do not come into the position where Bill S-3 is needed again in the future. As the bill outlines, it has been about 40 years.
I cannot help but be a little bit cynical, though, because I did an Order Paper question on the fact that the government has 13 acts that already have overdue mandated legislative reviews. In particular, I have raised the review for the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians Act. It was due on October 6, 2022. The Minister of Public Safety promised me in the House that the government is going to introduce that legislative review this fall, this year. He specifically said that. My suspicion is that he is not going to deliver on that promise.
What does my hon. colleague think is the value of these mandated reviews if the Liberal government is going to ignore them anyway?
