Mr. Speaker, I am very happy to see you in the chair.
I appreciated my colleague's speech, but I am not entirely reassured. It seems like every bill in this Parliament either overrides existing laws or grants more powers to ministers. This bill is highly complex and will require careful study in committee. However, it is already clear that one of its objectives is to confer even more powers on the minister. We have some concerns on that front.
We also have concerns about Quebec's jurisdiction, particularly with respect to the development of natural resources and Hydro-Québec, a point of national pride. I think we will need to hear from its representatives in committee. I would like my colleague to commit to defending these areas of jurisdiction and protecting the environment. She told us she came from the oil industry. I respect that experience but, at the same time, her viewpoints may differ from mine.
I would like her to reassure me on this issue.
