Mr. Speaker, today is a great day for Quebec democracy.
Today, October 5, Quebeckers are being asked to vote on who they trust to govern our nation. On behalf of the Bloc Québécois, I urge all Quebeckers to get out and vote. Voting is about more than having a right to complain, and it even goes beyond our civic duty. It is a small, simple act we can do that will have a decisive impact on the future of our nation. It is also a way to honour our ancestors, whether their names were “Papineau” or “Casgrain”, who fought hard for our right to vote and to make our own choices as a society. It also means ensuring that the party of our choice receives financial support, regardless of whether it wins or loses the election.
I want to remind Quebeckers that they can find their polling station on the card they received in the mail or on the website of Élections Québec.
The citizens of the Quebec nation have until eight o'clock tonight to help shape our national destiny.
I urge everyone to go vote. Long live Quebec.
