Mr. Speaker, fuel costs have hit record highs, and working Canadians are paying the price. Diesel has gone up 80% in a year. Farmers are spending thousands of dollars a day to keep feeding the country, and those costs hit every grocery bill.
Canada should have some of the most affordable energy on the planet, but a decade of Liberal blocking, stalling and delaying has led us here. Foreign wars outside of our borders should not dictate Canada's ability to be a self-sustaining energy superpower.
The Conservatives have an emergency fuel relief plan to support Canadian diesel. We would fast-track permitting to build pipelines, refineries and energy storage, eliminate all federal taxes on diesel at least until Canada Day and increase production to one million barrels per day so that Canadians are never dependent on foreign oil again.
Today, the Liberals can vote for the Conservative motion to give Canadians relief. Will they?
