Madam Speaker, the parliamentary secretary keeps mentioning LNG Canada as a great investment. Yes, it is a $33-billion project, and it is true that the Prime Minister stood side by side with David Eby, Premier of B.C. He has so much in common with the Prime Minister. David Eby inherited a surplus of $1 billion in 2022 when he took office. He is a miracle worker. In four years, he has converted it to a deficit of $14 billion. His government has subsidized LNG Canada, and so has the federal government. The federal government deficit went from $48 billion under the Prime Minister to over $78 billion. Canada's debt is now over $1 trillion. At the same time, these two wonderful leaders, who claim to be climate champions, are driving up greenhouse gas emissions.
The only Canadian thing about LNG Canada is its name. It is no surprise that it is buying its steel from China; it is owned by PetroChina. From the get-go, the parts for the LNG plant have been fabricated in China. They are all foreign companies. There is not one Canadian owner of LNG Canada.
