Mr. Speaker, today I am proud to join my colleagues, ambassadors, community leaders and friends in celebrating the 10th Annual Latin American and Hispanic Day on the Hill. This special occasion recognizes the extraordinary contributions of more than 1.7 million Spanish-speaking Canadians, many of Latin American and Hispanic heritage, who help to strengthen our communities and our country every day.
This year's theme is community, and I can think of no better way to describe the spirit of this event. For 10 years, it has brought Canadians together to celebrate culture, foster connections and build understanding.
I wish everyone celebrating today a wonderful Latin American Heritage Month.
