Mr. Speaker, this week brought some very exciting news for London and southwestern Ontario. Porter Airlines announced five new year-round routes from London International Airport, connecting our community directly to Vancouver, Edmonton, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax beginning next spring. For Londoners, that means more choices, better opportunities and better connections across our country. These new routes will make it easier for families to stay connected, for businesses to reach new markets and for visitors from across Canada to come and experience everything our region has to offer. London is a major Canadian city, and our region deserves the kind of connectivity that reflects that.
On behalf of the people of southwestern Ontario, I thank the teams at Porter and London International Airport who helped make this expansion possible. This is great news for London, and I look forward to seeing these new routes take flight.
