Mr. Speaker, I would like to congratulate my colleague from Ottawa West—Nepean for her initiative and leadership. She has succeeded in bringing together all members of the House, from every party, in support Bill of S-246 and in securing an expedited path through the legislative process. I attended the all-party press conference she organized and heard veterans speak about how important this bill is to them.
The purpose of this bill is to modernize the criteria for military recognition, but there is also a group of veterans who would like to establish an advisory committee to review medals awarded in the past and make adjustments.
Does my colleague think that moving quickly to establish such a committee could also help veterans receive medals that they may have earned but never received?
