Mr. Speaker, right now over four million visits to the food bank in Toronto are happening. There is a senior in my community who is 71 years old. The amount of money she makes does not cover her rent, food and bills. She is on a wait-list for affordable housing, but the wait-list is 10 years long, and she is looking for a part-time job. At 71 years old, she is trying to get back to work. She cannot find a job and cannot pay her expenses. She reached out to ask me what I can do for her, what we can do for her or what government can do for her.
This amount of spending is not making life affordable. Seeing our seniors struggle after a lifetime of hard work is shameful.
