Mr. Speaker, in my colleague's riding today, as in mine, there are family physicians like my colleagues who are spending an inordinate amount of time chasing results, trying to figure out what happened to their patient when they were admitted to the hospital and what changes were made to their medications, and calling the pharmacy to try to figure out what occurred. This bill would lay a foundation. It would open the door for the kind of information data flow that is truly necessary to fix these problems. A lot of work would have to happen after that. The bill would not magically fix everything, but if we do not pass it, we will not have the infrastructure necessary to address these important issues.
