Madam Speaker, it comes down to trust. It is my understanding, based on the Senate testimony, that the intent is for Canada Health Infoway to lead this effort. I do not trust Canada Health Infoway.
It is a really, really difficult technical problem. I understand some things about health care. I understand not a lot of things about information technology. There are very few people, I think, who actually could make regulations that make sense. Unfortunately, I feel that many of them are currently in the employ of Cerner, Meditech and Epic. If more meat could be put on the bones regarding who would actually be doing the regulations, thinking about the regulations, and how much money it would cost to get those people to do it, then perhaps I would have some more trust in this approach overall.
