Mr. Speaker, this week Algoma Steel marked a major milestone deal with Seaspan Shipyards from beautiful B.C. This deal is a record-breaker for Sault Ste. Marie producer Algoma Steel in polar steel, and it is going to begin pouring the steel in 2027. This comes at a critical time, as the unjust, unfair tariffs from the Americans have virtually shut down the market.
Can the Secretary of State for Defence Procurement please update the House on how the steelworkers in the Soo are going to benefit and how they are going to contribute to Canada's Arctic sovereignty?
