Alberta's oil and gas sector is important for the country. It is Canada's most important sector, and it is important for exporting oil overseas via the new pipeline that will run from Alberta to Vancouver. It is important for everyone. It is important for tax revenues and our standard of living, but it is also Canada's most internationally competitive sector.
