Madam Speaker, I certainly think that the federal government should mind its own business, and I certainly think the policy is worth examining. I believe it is going to pass. That goes without saying. My colleague says that this money will go into the pockets of all Canadians. I spent 20 minutes explaining that this might not be entirely true and that it should be quantified.
My colleague wants us to work together, but it is that type of rhetoric, that type of line recited from memory for the media, and that sort of triviality that undermines our parliamentary work.
It is going to pass. The Conservatives will vote in favour of this policy. Most people here will vote for the bill; we know that.
Now, we need to look further ahead. What will we do next time? What will we do if the situation in Iran is not resolved in six months' time?
That is the real question, and that is why we have parliamentary committees.
