Madam Speaker, on the idea of having the excise tax taken off gasoline, I find it interesting that a couple of years ago, when the NDP formed government with Wab Kinew, the first initiative was to take the excise tax off gas in the province of Manitoba. Yes, the Conservatives have also talked about it, but so has Canada's new Prime Minister, to the degree that his very first action in dealing with the issue of affordability was to get rid of the carbon tax. In Manitoba, that meant 17¢ a litre, permanently. In the economic spring budget, it was 10¢ a litre, and this legislation would extend that.
These are all positive initiatives. I like to think I also had something to do with that tax break by advocating within our caucus, but I think a lot of it had to do with the Prime Minister's determination to deal with the affordability issue. Would the member not agree that maybe we should be sharing the good idea?
