Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the outstanding work of the University Health Network and the Walnut Foundation, which are bringing their important PSA Detect and Protect program to Ottawa. They are making free PSA testing more accessible in the community and helping raise awareness about prostate cancer, particularly among Black men over the age of 40.
Too often, men put off getting tested. This community-based approach is helping overcome barriers to screening, encouraging men to take an active role in their health. I want to recognize Dr. Neil Fleshner and the entire UHN team, and Anthony Henry, president of the Walnut Foundation, along with the volunteers and community partners who make these clinics possible.
Their message is one we should all remember. Early detection can save lives. I thank the Walnut Foundation and UHN for bringing this life-saving work directly into our communities.
