Mr. Speaker, in the last federal election, the Prime Minister made it very clear. He wanted us to be able to expand trade beyond the Canada-U.S.A. border. Back in July, I had the pleasure of being at the same lunch table with the Minister of International Trade. We had the opportunity to sit down with the Prime Minister and the President of the Philippines, where we talked a great deal about trade.
Trade between Canada and the Philippines is an important step forward to expand opportunities to enhance our relationship. Two-way trade between Canada and the Philippines is critically important. Our Minister of International Trade is carrying the ball to ensure that we can achieve a trade agreement with countries like the Philippines, India and more.
