Mr. Speaker, the member for Malpeque argued throughout the debate we had in the agricultural committee that we should completely ignore the WTO obligations and develop farm aid without any consideration for the disastrous consequences that countervail would have. Industry has repeatedly stated how bad this would be for its sector.
Could the member talk about the disastrous consequences that countervail would have for the industry, or would she agree with the member for Malpeque on that?

Rail Transportation February 12th, 2008
Mr. Speaker, Bill C-8 makes amendments to the Canada Transportation Act that will help protect rail shippers from potential abuse of market power by railways. This is great news for rural Canada and for Canadian farmers and manufacturers.
The Grain Growers of Canada and the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities both voice their support for the bill and encourage the Senate to pass it in a timely manner.
Could the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities inform the House when he expects the bill to pass the Senate?
Petitions November 22nd, 2007
Mr. Speaker, as you know, the people of Saskatchewan are very proud of all things, like the very best football team in Canada, but I also want to talk about something that is really bothering the citizens of the Biggar area, and that is the possible destruction of the railway roundhouse. We would like Heritage Canada to declare it an official heritage site.
I am honoured to present this petition on behalf of the people of Biggar and area.
Saskatchewan Party November 21st, 2007
Mr. Speaker, armed with an optimistic vision and principled values, a vibrant Saskatchewan Party leader Brad Wall earned the confidence of the people of Saskatchewan and led his party to a majority government, proving that hope can conquer fear.
It took innovative ideas, a plan for economic growth and a great deal of hard work for Mr. Wall and a respected team of candidates to pave the way to victory.
This evening Saskatchewan is ushering in a new era as premier-elect Wall and his cabinet are sworn in as the new Government of Saskatchewan.

Mr. Speaker, I would like to present a petition on behalf of the people of Biggar and area about the proposed destruction of the unique and historic locomotive roundhouse in Biggar. The petitioners are asking that the roundhouse be deemed a national historic site and not become another pile of concrete, stones and rubble.

Mr. Speaker, it is indeed my honour to present a petition on behalf of the people of Biggar, Saskatchewan and people from right across Canada who are very interested in keeping our historical CN roundhouse in the town of Biggar. It is the duty of Parliament to protect our heritage buildings. I ask that the roundhouse be designated a heritage building in Canada.

Mr. Speaker, I have a petition to present on behalf of the citizens of Biggar and area.
The petitioners call on the Government of Canada to prevent the proposed demolition of the historically unique locomotive roundhouse in the town of Biggar. I ask the minister, on behalf of the petitioners, to deem the valuable structure a national historic site.
Member for Saskatoon--Rosetown--Biggar October 24th, 2007
Mr. Speaker, from helping mobilizing “Hay West” for Saskatchewan farmers experiencing drought, to introducing a taxpayers' bill of rights and an ombudsman, it has been my greatest honour to represent the people of Saskatoon--Rosetown--Biggar in Parliament. They placed their trust in me for three successive terms and I thank them for their confidence.
Although I announced this summer that I will not seek re-election, I will remain involved with my home province of Saskatchewan.
I thank the Prime Minister for his leadership and for entrusting me to serve our great country in cabinet.
For me, politics is public service, serving people and laying a firm foundation on which to build an even greater nation for future generations. The many fond memories of the people I have met and that I have had the privilege of working with will remain with me always.
I thank my husband, Noel, for his support. I thank Terri, Gord, Wendy, Tenille, Mark, Nadeen, Victoria, Ted, Shelby and Shea, and my beloved 91-year-old mother, Irene. I could not have done this without them.

Mr. Speaker, we do no such thing. When people come to the office, they must verify the living conditions they are in and no one under any circumstances is denied their basic rights.
