Mr. Speaker, integrity is something that the government frontbenchers lack.
The industry minister is not the only minister accepting free flights on corporate jets. There is the defence minister, the parliamentary secretary to the minister of defence, the fisheries minister and the labour minister. How many other ministers have broken the rules and accepted free flights?

Mr. Speaker, the government continues to throw muck on people.
We do not accept the industry minister's half-hearted apology he gave yesterday. It was too little and it was too late. He was wrong to accept the trip. He was wrong to hide it from the ethics counsellor. He was wrong to lobby for the Irvings.
Will the Deputy Prime Minister do the right thing today and ask the industry minister to resign?

Mr. Speaker, there are also questions as to how the new equipment will even get to our troops. Canada's Hercules fleet is in critical condition. Two-thirds of our Hercs are grounded.
The government cannot Fedex armoured vehicles to Afghanistan. How does the minister plan to get new equipment to our troops and how long will it take?

Mr. Speaker, the government has deprived our troops of the equipment they need. The battalion commander in Afghanistan has requested more armoured vehicles. High risk patrols have been halted.

Mr. Speaker, our troops in Afghanistan are in need of armoured vehicles. A soldier on the ground had this to say, “The vehicles we patrol in, they're junk. They have no blast protection. The second of October is a prime example.”

Mr. Speaker, the government can afford to forgive millions of dollars in technology partnership loans. It can afford to reward its Liberal friends with millions in advertising contracts. It can afford millions of dollars in corporate welfare.
Can the minister explain why his government cannot afford to support Canada's war widows?

Mr. Speaker, as of this morning an all party committee is asking the government to reinstate the VIP benefits to all 23,000 war widows. The government has heard from these widows. The government has heard from the public. The government has now heard from a committee of the House.
When will the minister reverse his position and extend the VIP benefits to all war widows?

moved for leave to introduce Bill C-454, an act to amend the Criminal Code (section 606).
Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to reintroduce my private member's bill which would amend certain provisions of section 606 of the Criminal Code relating to plea bargaining. It would ensure that when a plea bargain is used for a serious crime the Attorney General of Canada must approve it in writing.
My bill sends a clear message to Canadians that there will be a new level of accountability in our justice system. It also sends a message to the legal community that Canadians, while supportive of plea bargains, believe they are all too common and often favour the criminal.
I am confident all members will support it when given the opportunity.

Mr. Speaker, I present a petition on behalf of the constituents of my riding of Saskatoon—Rosetown—Biggar. Basically the petitioners are asking Parliament to defend the traditional definition of marriage.
