Statements in the House

The Budget March 20th, 2007

Mr. Speaker, I would like to ask the hon. member opposite a couple of questions. Obviously the member does not remember the over half a billion dollars that the government put toward homelessness initiatives earlier this year.

I would like to ask the member if he intends to vote against the $300 million for the cervical cancer vaccine to help women and girls. It might prevent their deaths.

I wonder if this gentleman knows that the firemen in Canada have been coming to the Hill for 11 years asking for money to train them in hazardous material handling. That member, every time, voted no: it is not important to Canadians and I do not care about firemen. Does he intend to vote against this budget, which has money to train our firemen to protect our areas much better than before?

I want to know if the member intends to vote against Medic Alert bracelets for children.

I want to know if the member cares at all, except for the rhetoric of getting nothing done and getting back to power versus doing the right thing for Canadians.

Committees of the House March 20th, 2007

Mr. Speaker, I have the honour to present, in both official languages, the 38th report of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs regarding membership of committees of the House and I would like to move concurrence at this time.

The Environment March 2nd, 2007

Mr. Speaker, once again Canadians can be very proud of their new government for the leadership role we have assumed in protecting Canada's environment and the health of northerners.

Yesterday the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, the parliamentary secretary and the Minister of the Environment participated in the launch of International Polar Year.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development give the House more details on this program and Canada's contribution to it?

The Budget February 20th, 2007

Mr. Speaker, Canada's Conservative government presented its first budget a little more than a year ago, providing Canadians with much needed tax relief, billions of dollars in tax relief, after 13 years of tax and grab, tax and spend, and tax and tax again Liberal governments.

Would the Minister of Finance please inform this House when he will present the next budget.

Committees of the House February 9th, 2007

Mr. Speaker, I have the honour to present, in both official languages, the 33rd report from the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, which was submitted by the Subcommittee on Private Members' Business.
