Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply June 3rd, 2025

Mr. Speaker, I would like to congratulate my colleague from Hochelaga—Rosemont‑Est. I really enjoyed her speech. There was one part about the Conservative Party's vision and safety on our streets that I disagree with, but I agree with a lot of what she said.

Considering that my colleague comes from a media background, I would like to hear her thoughts on her government's solution to halting the decline of French. The only line about it that I see in the throne speech involves promoting CBC/Radio-Canada internationally as a way to showcase our culture. However, there are many other things to be done. I would like my colleague to comment on that.

Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister likely did not understand my question. Parliament has spoken. It has asked this Liberal government to table a budget this spring. There are 18 days left.

A good, responsible manager uses a budget to determine how much they can spend. If our families, seniors and SMEs acted like this government, they would go bankrupt. The Liberals said that they want to reduce spending, but they are increasing consulting contracts from $20 billion to $26 billion.

The Liberals must listen to Parliament. When will they table a budget to justify their over half a trillion dollars in spending?

Finance June 3rd, 2025

Mr. Speaker, our motion calling on the government to table a budget this spring was adopted yesterday. The Liberals must respect this Parliament and table a budget this spring. The Liberals want a blank cheque and they want us to approve more than half a billion dollars in spending without being presented the financial situation.

During the election campaign, the Liberals promised to spend 2%. Spending has gone up by more than 8%. This government is already proving that it misled Canadians.

Will the minority Liberals listen to the majority in Parliament and table a budget this spring?

Protection of the French Language May 29th, 2025

Mr. Speaker, a throne speech gives the government an opportunity to outline its policy and objectives and to specify how it will achieve them.

When it comes to official languages, francophones have every reason to be very concerned. Here is the entire passage stating the will and intentions of the Liberals:

The Government is determined to protect the institutions that bring these cultures and this identity to the world, like CBC/Radio-Canada.

That is some wishful thinking from the government. It believes that CBC/Radio-Canada alone is the saviour that will halt the decline of French. During the election, we committed to maintaining Radio-Canada, but much more needs to be done to halt the decline of French.

Unfortunately, the Prime Minister has shown us once again that he does not understand French or recognize the importance of the various francophone cultures that are alive and well in the 10 provinces and three territories that make up our great nation, Canada.

Resumption of Debate on Address in Reply May 29th, 2025

Mr. Speaker, I would like to congratulate my colleague from Madawaska—Restigouche. I had the privilege of working with his predecessor, Mr. Arseneault, and I hope that member will be as passionate about official languages as he was.

I read the Speech from the Throne, and unfortunately there is nothing in it to reassure francophones. My colleague talked about how many francophones there are in the Liberal Party of Canada. However, they must be worried about what they read in the throne speech.

What does my colleague find reassuring? What might make francophones across Canada believe in the future? What might stop the decline of French across the country?

Mr. Speaker, this Prime Minister, a fake feminist, is losing control. If we look at his record, we can see he has lost control over immigration, over the management of public funds, over his ministers, and the list goes on.

Now he is squabbling with his Minister of Finance. She is already saddling Canada with a huge deficit, but the Prime Minister wants more. He even plans to replace her with Mark Carney, an unelected individual, if she does not follow his orders.

On Monday, will the minister be presenting her economic statement or Mark Carney's?

Business of Supply December 9th, 2024

Mr. Speaker, on the screen earlier, we saw a member addressing the House virtually without her headset. Is that acceptable?

I think the instructions are very clear out of respect for our interpreters. The rules must apply to everyone.

Finance December 9th, 2024

Mr. Speaker, everyone is reaching the same conclusion. For the past nine years, this Liberal government has wasted money and saddled Canadians with more debt. Unfortunately, the Bloc Québécois has voted to keep the government in power on two occasions. I know that Quebeckers deserve better.

This minority government is once again proving that it has lost control of finances by tabling its economic update on the eve of a House break.

Does the most wasteful government in history have another deficit in store for us as a Christmas present?

Committees of the House December 5th, 2024

Madam Speaker, allow me to explain. My NDP colleague said that members from a specific party were leaving the House. That is not permitted, as per the Standing Orders. I would like you to take a stand.
