Mr. Speaker, I am one of the people who is amazed by the work done by this committee. However, I must say that I would have appreciated it if the committee had focused more on the work that had been done, particularly to promote resolution 1325.

Mr. Speaker, what we are talking about is simply a matter of semantics.
If the Standing Committee on the Status of Women wants to move beyond semantics to initiatives and more serious issues, it could worry a little more about, for example, the issue of UN resolution 1325, on which Canada stood up and exerted its leadership. It is too bad that the members on the other side of the House are not doing the same.

Mr. Speaker, that is not at all the case. In fact, I would like to ask my hon. colleague, as well as the members of his coalition, to fast-track the bill that many people in the greater Ottawa Valley area and the greater national capital region have been impatiently awaiting for years. We would like to see it passed as soon as possible.

Mr. Speaker, the allegations that the government is trying to reduce its obligations to the International Criminal Court are false. Facts are facts and so I would simply ask the hon. member to take a closer look at the funding mechanism. Canada is respecting its obligations to this court.
Canada-U.S. Relations February 17th, 2011
Mr. Speaker, I have responded to this question and the Prime Minister has responded to this question.
We think this is a very bad idea, particularly at a time when we are working on the global economic recovery. We know that it remains fragile.
That is the reason the Prime Minister and the President of the United States got together to be able to develop new ways to increase our economic ties, to be able to work at finding ways to create new jobs in this country as well as in the United States.
We will be able, once again, to make sure that happens.

Mr. Speaker, as you know, yesterday evening, the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons presented a motion to hold a take-note debate on Iran. During my speech, I spoke about the case raised by the hon. member.
To the extent of our abilities, we will do all we can to ensure that these individuals are released from prison.

Mr. Speaker, I think that my colleague was mistaken when he said that our relationship with the American government had hit an all-time low. Members will recall the very bleak period in the relationship between the Liberals at the time and the American government. I repeat that it is not a good idea. This is a budget proposal for the 2012 budget and they have not even adopted their 2011 budget.
