Mr. Speaker, I thank my opposition colleague and I can see he is very passionate about this.
Having said that, I am happy to be on this side of the House, with a government that began rolling out the very first national housing strategy in 2016 to put a roof over the heads of Canadians across the country, rather than with a party that wants to insult the mayors of our cities, because when someone insults mayors in Quebec, they are insulting all Quebeckers.
Finance December 14th, 2023
Mr. Speaker, the gift came from the Conservatives last week when they put their ideology of budget cuts and austerity on full display. Cuts like those hamper Quebec's economic growth, especially in the tourism industry.
Why are Quebec Conservatives unwilling to make cuts to the tourism growth program on the Prairies, but happy to do so in Quebec, the north or Ontario? The Saguenay Fjord is less important than the Prairies. The Plains of Abraham are less important than the Prairies. The St-Tite western festival is less important than the Calgary Stampede. On this side of the House, we are there for all Quebeckers. The Conservatives should be ashamed of themselves.

Small Business December 5th, 2023
Mr. Speaker, my colleague is absolutely right. Our government is a partner in economic development, not only in Quebec, but across the country.
Unlike the Conservative leader, who wants to take us back to the Stone Age and fossil fuels, we are investing in innovative green projects, such as the Carrefour d'innovation bioalimentaire de l'Est in Montreal, the transformation of mine tailings into fertilizer in Thetford Mines and the manufacture of brake pads for wind turbines in Gaspésie.
We will continue to invest in the economy of the future. I would like to know what the Conservative Party is going to cut for business owners in Quebec.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship December 1st, 2023
Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague for the question.
Again, Quebec is the only province that has an agreement with the federal government on immigration. We send Quebec more than $700 million a year, including for work on the integration of immigrants into French-speaking society in Quebec.
We will continue to work with Quebec. As my colleague mentioned, he has a meeting with the Government of Quebec to discuss immigration thresholds and how we are going to work together to ensure that we properly welcome refugees and asylum seekers.

I would remind her, as I am sure she knows full well, that the agreement we have with Quebec gives it the power and jurisdiction to choose its immigration thresholds. We are working very well with Quebec, and we will continue to work with our Quebec counterparts to create an immigration system that meets our needs, the needs of Quebec and the needs of francophones in Quebec.

Tourism Industry November 28th, 2023
Mr. Speaker, our government wants to position the indigenous tourism industry for long-term sustainable growth. I recently announced the indigenous tourism fund that will support thousands of projects for micro and small businesses across the country, and in the member's riding of Northwest Territories.
The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada, ITAC, will provide financial assistance to build capacity among indigenous businesses. Indigenous tourism has the power to transform the tourism sector, and more than that, it has the power to advance self-determination in an economy of reconciliation.
Official Languages November 27th, 2023
Mr. Speaker, our government was the one that said it first: French is in decline and it has to be promoted and supported.
We passed a new Official Languages Act that the Bloc Québécois supported. It is very misleading to calculate spending at roughly $70 million over 27 years when in fact we have been giving Quebec $500 million to $700 million a year for the past 30 years to support francization. We assist Radio-Canada and Telefilm Canada because, on this side of the House, we support not only French, but francophone content as well.
Tourism Industry November 21st, 2023
Mr. Speaker, my colleague is right. The tourism industry represents 1.9 million jobs, it is represented in every municipality in the country and it generates $266 million a day.
Yesterday, we launched the tourism growth program, a $108‑million fund that will be delivered by the regional economic agencies. These investments are designed to support businesses and organizations as they grow and offer authentic tourism experiences.
Tourism is not just about the economy, it is about pride.
