Mr. Speaker, I believe that the question was directed at you, and I am unaware of any incompetent accusations that you are involved in.
Won his last election, in 2011, with 71% of the vote.

Mr. Speaker, I believe that the question was directed at you, and I am unaware of any incompetent accusations that you are involved in.
Public Safety October 19th, 2010
Mr. Speaker, there is always a very delicate balance between public safety and the interests of individuals. That member would be the first one on his feet to complain if someone had slipped between the cracks.
I recognize that the RCMP and other agencies have a very difficult job to do in that respect. I can explain to the member why it may seem like an inappropriate period of time, but I can assure him that those agencies are working as quickly as possible to deal with each and every request.
Public Safety October 19th, 2010
Mr. Speaker, the safety of Canadians and those who receive service from individuals is in fact our primary concern. We understand there are some delays in the way these issues are being dealt with, but what I must stress is that the various agencies that are responsible for that in fact are ensuring that Canadians remain safe in terms of these inquiries.
RCMP October 19th, 2010
Mr. Speaker, what Canadians want is that member and his party to support our initiatives in respect of cracking down on crime. The protection of Canadians must come first. Unfortunately, that member and his party are one of the biggest impediments to safety on the streets for Canadians today.
RCMP October 19th, 2010
Mr. Speaker, Reid Morden was hired under a contract by Public Safety Canada to conduct a workplace assessment of senior management at the RCMP. Further, he reports directly to the deputy minister of public safety. I do not think it is appropriate for a minister to become involved in this type of internal management of the RCMP. Therefore, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further on the matter.
Lighthouses October 4th, 2010
Mr. Speaker, we are proud of our accomplishments at the G8 and the G20 summits. Canada is leading the global economic recovery as well as the international efforts to aid developing nations.
As we have said from the beginning, these were legitimate expenses. The majority of them were for security purposes. There were approximately 20,000 security personnel on the ground during the summits. The violence and destruction that occurred proved the need to ensure that those who attended the summits were protected.
G8 and G20 Summits October 4th, 2010
Mr. Speaker, I have never indicated that the total cost would be $90 million. The appropriation for this year was $90 million. That member has again misconstrued the facts.
I have indicated that the cost would be $2 billion over five years. I have been consistent on that figure. When the individual indicated that it would be $10 billion to $13 billion, he also indicated he did not have any numbers to justify that. In fact, our numbers are that it will be $2 billion over five years.
G8 and G20 Summits October 4th, 2010
Mr. Speaker, that is a member who never gets his facts right, especially when it comes to numbers. In fact, the number that he indicated was totally false.
The amount of money spent in order to prepare the ground for RCMP accommodations was $144,000. That was well spent, and I am prepared to show the Auditor General exactly how that money was spent on behalf of the RCMP.
G8 and G20 Summits October 1st, 2010
Mr. Speaker, I would like to correct the record. The member is putting erroneous facts on the record again. He indicated a $4 million cost for a specific project that was security related when in fact that cost was $144,000.
I wish that the member would wait for the Auditor General's assessment of the expenditures. I am looking forward to hearing what the Auditor General has to say about them rather than listening to the rhetoric of members opposite.
G8 and G20 Summits October 1st, 2010
Mr. Speaker, we are proud of the accomplishments of the G8 and G20 summits. Canada is leading the global economic recovery, as well as international efforts to aid developing countries.
As we have said from the beginning, these were legitimate expenses, the majority of which were for security. We have asked the Auditor General to look at these expenses as they come in. We look forward to her review.
As for infrastructure in the member's riding, I am wondering why he did not either ask or, in fact, even vote for them.
