COVID-19 Pandemic committee  Now, the Auditor General has stopped working on performance audits and for two years in a row has testified at the public accounts committee that the Office of the Auditor General doesn't have enough money to do its job. This government is hiding from Parliament and it's hiding from the Auditor General, while hundreds of billions of dollars are being rushed out the door.

COVID-19 Pandemic committee  It went ahead with a secret $8.6-million renovation of Harrington Lake, the so-called “caretaker” house. The infrastructure minister claims privacy to hide from Parliament over 20,000 missing projects worth tens of billions of dollars. This Liberal government believes that we only deserve the information that the Prime Minister deigns to give us.

Agriculture committee  There is a huge cost involved to train each and every one of these employees, in addition to all the equipment needed to ensure everyone is protected. I won't hide the fact that it currently takes us two or three Quebec employees to replace a foreign worker in terms of efficiency, but especially in terms of endurance, since they have to work between 10 and 12 hours a day.

Finance committee  At the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and at Hydro-Québec, among others, compensation—including premiums and indemnities—is disclosed. In my opinion, the public would benefit from that. We have no reason to hide it. My second comment has to do with what my colleague Ms. Koutrakis said about the high-frequency rail. I don't have the right words like the ones she used about that project. It in no way replaces the high-speed train.

COVID-19 Pandemic committee  Our role as members of Parliament is to uphold our democracy and to be present. This is the greatest pandemic in our lifetime. Now is not the time to hide behind a podium. If this government were doing the best job for Canadians, they would not need to hide. Thank you.

Government Operations committee  For what purpose do you want this information? I'm not quite sure why someone would want to hide it. I think it provides a lot of great information on COVID that can be extrapolated across the entire country—for sick day benefits that the NDP were requesting, for access to day care, for access to work from home.

Government Operations committee  It sounds like the resources have stayed the same, and the “hide everything” attitude of the government has stayed the same. Do we need to change your position so that your reporting structure reports to the Speaker, much like the Parliamentary Budget Officer does, so that there are completely autonomous actions from your department?

Finance committee  The Union des artistes represents 8,500 active members. They are performers, singers, actors, hosts and dancers. I will not hide from you that the pandemic we are currently experiencing has had an impact on 100% of our members. All performers have been affected. Some have managed to get through a little better, but very few.

Finance committee  A good part of my job at Desjardins involves making economic and financial forecasts. I won't hide the fact that it's particularly difficult at this time, when we're going through a crisis for which it's very difficult to find a historical precedent. It's sometimes compared to the Spanish flu, but it's not a perfect comparison, and that took place about 100 years ago, which is quite a long time ago.

COVID-19 Pandemic committee  When will the Liberals admit that shutting down Parliament was about avoiding accountability and hiding from Canadians, not about safety?

COVID-19 Pandemic committee  The Prime Minister will have to find some leadership and start making some tough decisions, instead of hiding under the bed in his cottage and poking his head out just for his 10-minute daily performance. When will the government put pen to paper and bring forward a plan that puts Canadians first and puts Canada back on track?

COVID-19 Pandemic committee  Sadly, this past week's virtual talent show was hacked with vile and bigoted interventions. The online world allows cowards hiding behind their screens to present comments anonymously. To them I say, “Show yourselves. There are consequences to us all for your crossing the line, and there should be no medium in which words are not attached to the commentator.”

COVID-19 Pandemic committee  They were teachers, construction workers, business owners, family members, neighbours and friends. Addiction is a health and social issue, but criminalization creates stigma, so people hide their drug use and die alone. Access to a safe supply of drugs and safe injection sites saves lives and puts addicts in daily contact with people who can help them. Will this government end the war on drugs by decriminalizing them, providing a safe supply and reallocating resources from policing addicts to providing treatment for them?

COVID-19 Pandemic committee  Please don't hide behind health experts when the Prime Minister is appearing in the middle of large protests, yet is afraid to bring back the Parliament of Canada to do its business. In fact, the New Brunswick legislature is open for regular business.
