Ethics  Mr. Speaker, fortunately this Parliament is coming to an end, because we can only endure so many platitudes from the other side of the House. Today, we learned—and this is very serious—that prominent politicians, key members of the Senate, both Liberal and Conservative, will be targeted in the Auditor General's upcoming report.

Finance  Mr. Speaker, once again, the Prime Minister is refusing to correct his Minister of Finance's absurd statements. In Germany today, the Conservative Finance Minister said, and I quote: “relaxing labour laws to make it easier to lay off workers would help spur economic growth”. That is the true face of the Conservatives.

Petitions  Mr. Speaker, it is truly an honour for me to present three petitions on the same subject from different provinces: Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan. Dozens of people want to maintain home mail delivery. I am pleased to present these petitions today. I think it is in the public interest.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, it is mind-boggling how the Conservative government insists on surrounding itself with people who bypass and abuse the system. Mike Duffy is on trial for fraud, corruption and breach of trust. Brazeau is accused of inappropriate spending in the Senate. Dean Del Mastro, former parliamentary secretary to the Prime Minister, has been found guilty of violating the Canada Elections Act.

Canada Post  Mr. Speaker, last year, Canada Post made a $194-million profit. We can afford door-to-door delivery in our country. Canada Post's decision to end door-to-door mail delivery is drawing the ire of more and more Canadians. At a meeting of the Union des municipalités du Québec, the Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs had to respond to angry municipal officials.

National Urban Workers Strategy  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to rise in the House to support the bill introduced by my colleague, because it is a very important bill. My grandfather worked at the Singer factory in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu for 44 years. My father was a French teacher at a CEGEP for 30 years. However, those labour market realities are becoming less and less common.

Manufacturing Industry  Mr. Speaker, crocodile tears are not going to help those who have lost their jobs. We want the government to do something about this. The truth is that the manufacturing sector in Quebec has lost 102,500 jobs since the Conservatives came to power. Now, with Bombardier, 1,000 more families, 850 in Dorval and 150 in Ville Saint-Laurent, are out of work and will have a hard time making ends meet.

Manufacturing Industry  Mr. Speaker, the Conservatives' approach does not work. We continue to lose jobs across Quebec and Canada. Here are the facts. Since the Conservatives came to power, Quebec has lost 102,500 jobs in the manufacturing sector. In Montreal alone, 27,000 jobs have been lost in the last six months.

Petitions  Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to present to the House a petition that has been signed by dozens of Ontarians, mainly from Oshawa, who are very concerned about the end of home mail delivery. The message they are sending to this House is that they want to keep home mail delivery. We have no rational fiscal or economic reason to be the only G7 country that can no longer provide home mail delivery.

Employment  Mr. Speaker, obviously, it is never the Conservatives' fault, even though in April alone we lost 20,000 good jobs in this country. Alcan has been one of the most important companies in Quebec's history. Today, there is almost nothing left, not even its name, after 90 years of history.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, good governance starts with obeying the law. That is why the question is pertinent. Election fraud is a direct attack on our democracy because it takes away the people's choice of government. Unfortunately, such fraud lies at the very heart of this Prime Minister's administration.

National Day of Mourning  Mr. Speaker, today we commemorate the National Day of Mourning. Statistics show that today, three people—fathers and mothers—will go to work and will not return home. In 2013, 902 people died on the job, thousands of others were involved in workplace accidents, and even more people developed occupational illnesses.

Government Advertising  Mr. Speaker, the Liberals moved a motion condemning the Conservatives' use of public funds for partisan advertising. The Liberals say that, and I quote, “this is an affront to taxpayers who work hard and expect that the government will treat their money with respect”. Somebody pinch me; I must be dreaming.

Genocide Recognition  Mr. Speaker, once again, I am extremely honoured to have the opportunity to participate in this debate and this discussion in the House of Commons. We are debating a fundamental and extremely important topic. Once again, I would like to thank my colleague from Mississauga—Streetsville for moving this motion and giving us an opportunity to put our thoughts together and have a rational discussion on some tragic events that took place over the course of the 20th century.

Genocide Recognition  Mr. Speaker, I will soon have the honour of also speaking to Motion No. 587. I would like to congratulate the member for Mississauga—Streetsville for his initiative. I would like to ask him what our country should do to honour the international agreements and treaties on the prevention of future genocides.
