Homelessness  Mr. Speaker, it is my privilege today to recognize Medicine Hat, Alberta in its historic, national achievement in reaching functional zero chronic homelessness. For Medicine Hat, functional zero means there were three or fewer individuals experiencing chronic homelessness in the community over three consecutive months.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my friend from the NDP for his impassionate and, yet, disturbing reveal of the realities of our history. As he knows, we will be supporting this motion. It is long overdue that we provide an opportunity for indigenous people to be respected and treated like every other person in the country expects to be treated.

Public Safety  Mr. Speaker, over this past Victoria Day weekend, there were three people shot in Toronto, four shootings in Ottawa, and one person killed and four wounded in a Mississauga shooting. The Lower Mainland in B.C. has seen increased gang violence, with over 20 killings so far this year.

Public Services and Procurement  Mr. Speaker, the Liberal government has ended cross-border co-operation to vaccinate more Canadians, like the Montana Blackfeet first nation that has provided vaccines to my constituents. The reason given to media is that vaccines are widely available in Canada. If vaccines were so widely available here, then there would not be wait lists, there would not be delays and there would not be a four-month gap between shots.

Budget Implementation Act, 2021, No. 1  Madam Speaker, I am curious to know what my colleague's take is on the amount of debt and deficit that would occur with this budget, not only in this current year, but in the couple years to follow. If we are paying $40 billion or more a year just on interest to service our debt, that will have a negative impact on the sustainability of some of our social structures and programs moving forward and on maintaining them in the years to come.

The Economy  Mr. Speaker, recently I asked the government how much debt interest costs when rates rise by 2%, which is the same stress test that new homebuyers are faced with. The Bank of Canada has announced that interest rates will be rising, so with $40 billion a year being spent on interest, the government has already put critical infrastructure systems at risk.

Budget Implementation Act, 2021, No. 1  Madam Speaker, the Liberals always tell us and accuse us now that we want to cut and cut in the budget, we did not support spending and all of these things. With the debt we have and are going to be incurring over the next number of years, if rates go up even just a little bit, and we are approaching $40 billion, can you explain to Canadians the impact that will have on some of the social structures we have in this country?

Health  Mr. Speaker, recently the Blackfeet Nation in Montana set up a free mobile vaccination clinic for Canadians at a border crossing in my riding using its excess vaccines. In two days, over 450 people from the entire Cardston community went through the clinic, some even receiving their second dose that they could not get in Canada.

The Economy  Madam Speaker, the finance minister recently suggested that interest rates are so low that we cannot afford not to borrow, but we all know that interest rates change. New homebuyers are stress-tested to ensure that they are able to afford a 2% or more interest rate increase. The Liberals have said that this is for their own good.

Health  Madam Speaker, I would like to congratulate my friend on her recent appointment as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health. Good for her. The reason Canadians, and not only Conservatives, cannot grasp the plan is that there really is not one. The fact remains that the government seems incapable of being honest and clear with Canadians.

Health  Madam Speaker, on February 16 of this year, I requested that the government provide the data used to support its public policy decisions regarding its failed pandemic response and its plan for recovery. This data is either being intentionally hidden or it is not available because the government failed to collect it.

COVID-19 Emergency Response  Mr. Speaker, pandemic restrictions are supposed to be temporary measures to buy time and get appropriate plans in place to protect Canadians. Emergency management best practices are designed to, one, contain the spread and reduce illness and death; two, mitigate societal disruption; three, minimize adverse economic impacts; and four, support the efficient use of resources.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I rise on a point of order. I know the member quickly apologized, but it is rather poetic that in a speech from one of my colleagues earlier today, he raised a point of order when she used a member's name in the House. It is appropriate that he too be reminded not to use members' names in the House.
