Ethics  Mr. Speaker, I would like to remind members what happened to the last person who supposedly acted alone, the famous Nigel Wright. He resigned. No, that is not true. I think he was fired. Is that the latest version? All right. Was Arthur Hamilton, a well-know lawyer involved in all the Conservative schemes, really asked to help the PMO with the Senate scandal, yes or no?

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, last week, the Prime Minister said exactly 29 times that he had been very clear. That is ironic, because we have 29 different versions of the Conservative scandal. In order to clarify the most recent developments in this matter, can the Prime Minister tell us if Ray Novak instructed Claude Carignan to cut a backroom deal with Patrick Brazeau?

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, it seems to me that we are the only party that is clear. We want to abolish the Senate. The Prime Minister may seem to be saying “those morons won't catch me”, but because he is changing his version of the events, they are going to do just that. If Senator Carignan did act alone, without consulting the Prime Minister's Office, why is he still the Leader of the Government in the Senate?

Health  Mr. Speaker, the Minister of Transport could stand to listen to the people of Quebec City from time to time. Let us review the facts. Toxic dust has been emitted at the Port of Québec on a number of occasions now. The federal government is twiddling its thumbs and doing nothing about it.

Economic Action Plan 2013 Act No. 2  Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank my colleague from Cape Breton—Canso for his speech. I travelled to his beautiful region last summer. Once more, we see the government using an omnibus bill to amend legislation related to employment and labour relations. These pieces of legislation have nothing whatsoever to do with budget implementation.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank the hon. member for Saint-Laurent—Cartierville for his very specific question with its grocery list of point (a), point (b), point (c) and point (d). I will not go into detail on each of his proposals because that might make him all too delighted and it is too close to noon for that.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his question and his very relevant comments. People read the papers and keep up with the news. At some point, there is a kind of scandal overload with respect to politicians. We need only think of the Charbonneau commission in Quebec and what we have witnessed at the municipal level in some Quebec localities.

Business of Supply  Mr. Speaker, I will be sharing my speaking time with my honourable colleague from Newton—North Delta. After being locked out of the House of Commons for five weeks by the Conservative government, I am unabashedly delighted to be back in this chamber to resume our debates. I always enjoy listening to what my colleagues have to say.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, from what I can see, the parliamentary lockout decreed by the Conservatives did not prevent them from going back to their old ways. They keep spouting nonsense, instead of doing the honourable thing and telling the truth. When he talked to the RCMP, Nigel Wright clearly contradicted what the Prime Minister said in the House.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, have they assigned me a new friend? He does not seem as fun as the last one. Nigel Wright knew that some of his colleagues were aware of the agreement with Mike Duffy. That is what he told the police officers investigating the Conservatives' scheme. In fact, he handed over hundreds of pages of emails relating to this matter.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, the RCMP is investigating a possible crime in the Prime Minister's Office. UPAC, Quebec's anti-corruption agency, arrested their former candidate for the riding of Mont-Royal, who is also a former employee of the Minister of Canadian Heritage and a good friend of the Prime Minister's former director of communications.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, this all looks very suspicious. Their man in Mont-Royal in 2011 was Saulie Zajdel. UPAC's charges relate to his activities between 2006 and 2011. We have to wonder what particular skills made the Conservatives nominate him as their candidate and then reward him with a job working for the Minister of Canadian Heritage.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, it takes a lot of nerve for the Minister of Canadian Heritage to say such things in the House when it was the Conservative Party that paid a fine for its in and out scheme, that was implicated in telephone calls to keep people from voting and that has senators mired in a scandal over false expense claims.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, one thing is certain: the noose is tightening around the Prime Minister. That said, the Conservatives have quite the logic. Nigel Wright was too crooked to stay in the PMO, so he was shown the door, yet, at the same time, the Conservatives are ready to take him at his word.

Combating Counterfeit Products Act  Mr. Speaker, I can barely contain my emotions as I rise in the House because I know that the entire nation is hanging on my every word as I weigh in on this important debate. I would like to begin by quoting a 13th century French poet named Rutebeuf. Some 700 years ago, Rutebeuf wrote: What has become of the friends Whom I held so dear And loved so much One could paraphrase his words today: What has become of the principles That I praised so highly And boasted of so much I am, of course, talking about the Conservative Party and the bitter disappointment it has inspired among its supporters.
