Housing  By that I mean duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, row houses and mid-rise apartments. The deputy leader of the Conservative Party made clear, on a yacht no less, that they do not have that vision. I shared that in the House of Commons during question period a few weeks ago. They do not embrace a vision of building more homes, of building the missing middle homes.

Business of Supply  They are in power for now; I hope a Conservative government will be back in office in short order. He talks about history lessons and how “Stephen Harper did this.” He probably goes back and even talks about John Diefenbaker. I am surprised he did not invoke Sir John A. Macdonald and blame him for the government's latest scandal.

Public Accounts committee  Our government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, decided we would tackle reconciliation in a real and sincere way. In fact, compare that to the previous prime minister, Stephen Harper, who said that an inquiry into missing and murdered indigenous women was not on his radar. Compare that to MP Waugh, who said, when I introduced water legislation in the House a couple of months ago, that first nations people just burn down their water treatment plants anyway, so they themselves are to blame.

Infrastructure  They started by excluding the Davie shipyard from the national shipbuilding strategy, only to top it off by hiding behind the courts for 10 years to justify their inaction over the Quebec City bridge, when Stephen Harper was not going to Quebec City just to sneer at it, that is. Now that we have corrected the injustice against the Davie shipyard and bought back the Quebec City bridge, could the Minister of Public Services and Procurement tell us how we are going to guarantee the sustainability of this unique part of our heritage for generations to come?

Business of Supply  I wonder if the member would like to reflect, as maybe he overuses the word “corruption”, because he uses it all the time. I would not mind doing a contrast between Stephen Harper and corruption versus our—

Human Resources committee  Does the government want to favour the private sector or strengthen the non-profit sector? CMHC has significant resources. We think that, if the government sends a very clear message that it wants to grant low-cost loans to the non-profit sector, that could have an impact, particularly in Quebec. We know that high interest rates are making matters difficult these days because they complicate financing arrangements.

Main Estimates 2024-25  Speaker, I listened carefully to my colleague's speech. I want to make one important point clear to him right off the bat. A denturist called me last week and said that the federal dental care program was a flop. He cannot get reimbursed, so he is going to drop out of the program.

Main Estimates 2024-25  There are certainly things we can accept in the supplementary estimates. There are other things that are not considered a priority. It is clear, once again, that the priorities are not always part of the current government's reality.

Transport committee  Maybe if it's just the name, we can change the name of the Canada Infrastructure Bank and the Conservatives will be onside. We'll go back to calling it whatever Stephen Harper called it, and they will be onside. We even had Lisa Raitt publicly compliment one of the projects from the Canada Infrastructure Bank that the Conservatives are most furious about.

Main Estimates 2024-25  Madam Speaker, the President of the Treasury Board talked about providing clear insight into spending in the departmental plans and the estimates process, as well as transparency on all government spending, yet the departmental plans and the departmental results show that almost one-quarter of departments had zero targets set and zero dates set to achieve such targets.

Main Estimates 2024-25  As a member of NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Canada should theoretically be investing 2% of its GDP in defence, but that is not happening. It is not clear that the plan that has been presented will help Canada meet that target. Could she elaborate on that? I think it is a bit surreal that a Bloc MP is asking that question, but I think it is important.

Main Estimates 2024-25  To that end, the estimates support Parliament's review of proposed new government spending and the bills ensuring appropriation that will occur thereafter. Every year, the main estimates and related documents provide clear insight into how the government proposes to allocate taxpayer dollars and help to ensure that our spending is transparent and accountable. I cannot overstate the importance of this information to the functioning of our system of government and our parliamentary democracy.

Business of Supply  The number is arrived at through modelling, sampling and statistical methods. I would ask the member to be clear about that. However, my question is the following: The other side says that the price on carbon is damaging the economy, but today there was a headline in The Globe and Mail saying, “Household wealth jumps to record” high.

Human Resources committee  Castonguay, I'd really like to talk more about the importance of the Réseau québécois des OSBL d'habitation. According to various figures, under Stephen Harper's Conservative government, we lost 800,000 so-called affordable housing units in Canada. We have lost another 370,000 since the Liberals took over. For every affordable housing unit we build, we're losing 10 or 11 right now, so, despite the massive investments being made, we're going deeper into the hole.

Public Accounts committee  Look, I have to stop you there. We have asked that it be turned over to the police, that's true, the RCMP, but it's very clear from the evidence that at least $150 million is available on the website. We've had directors admit that they sat in board meetings and voted their own money. We have to stop that, at least going forward.
