Health  Mr. Speaker, that was a really ridiculous thing for the Parliamentary Secretary to Deputy Prime Minister to say. The fact is that the Liberals have messed up so many things in their response to COVID, but they will not admit, they will not learn from it and they will not change it.

Health  Mr. Speaker, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told Americans last week to “avoid all travel to Canada”. It said, “Because of the current situation in Canada even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk”. We know the Prime Minister is trying to blame the provinces for vaccines in freezers, but it is his slow and inconsistent rollout that is causing such poor delivery.

Health  Mr. Speaker, most of this country is facing new and devastating restrictions, and this is a direct result of the Liberal government's inability to get vaccines. To add insult to injury, Canadians are being told they are going to have to wait four months for a second dose. Canadians are being forced to accept substandard dosage intervals.

Health  Mr. Speaker, the third wave is here, and while other countries are getting vaccinated and opening up, Canadians are being locked down yet again. Yesterday, Canada officially passed the United States in the number of new cases per capita. Twenty per cent of Americans are fully vaccinated; only 2% of Canadians are.

COVID-19 Emergency Response  Mr. Speaker, on behalf of the people of Portage—Lisgar, I rise to say it is time to have a plan to see an end to the lockdowns, a plan to give back to the people the God-given freedoms our country guarantees them: the freedom to visit family and friends, the freedom to worship together, the freedom to allow children to play sports, even the freedom to plan a holiday, and the freedom to talk, hug, laugh and play.

Health  Mr. Speaker, the federal government is abdicating its responsibility by refusing to make recommendations on this, and the Liberals need to acknowledge that. For many Canadians, spiritual and mental health are linked. Gathering with people of the same faith and belief has been vital to freedom of worship and good mental health.

Health  Mr. Speaker, a year of lockdowns has had devastating mental health effects on Canadians. Too many have said their final good-byes to a parent or a grandparent through a window, or not at all. We have missed too many funerals and too many weddings. However, two weeks ago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that vaccinated grandparents in the U.S. can spend time with their grandchildren.

Health  Mr. Speaker, we are a year into COVID. Lockdowns were set initially across the world to give governments time to get the tools in place that they needed to protect their people. Those tools are now available to us, like rapid testing, vaccines and treatments, but our federal government has not delivered them as quickly as other countries.

Foreign Affairs  Mr. Speaker, Canadians also know that what is real is that the government has no plan to end the lockdowns for them. That is what they know is real. On another very serious matter that I hope we can get an answer to, for over two years the two Michaels have been held in prison in China.

Foreign Affairs  Mr. Speaker, actions speak louder than words. The Liberals have used the imprisonment of these Canadians as an implied reason not to deal with Huawei or to deal with genocide and the multitude of China's other abuses. Now, while the two are appearing in this kangaroo court, we have learned the Prime Minister has just sent $40 million to China for the Asian infrastructure bank.

National Defence  Madam Speaker, I cannot believe the parliamentary secretary is standing up and defending the actions of the Prime Minister of this country and the Minister of National Defence of this country, when they not only turned a blind eye, but continue to cover up these serious allegations.

National Defence  Madam Speaker, well, as it turns out, the way the Prime Minister and the Minister of National Defence handled General Vance's allegations is basically how they handle most sexual misconduct: by doing the worst thing a leader could do when faced with harassment allegations. They say it is not a big deal and maybe she experienced it differently, then cover it up, claim it is not their job and allow it to continue.

National Defence  Mr. Speaker, when allegations surfaced about Gen. Vance, the Minister of Defence said, multiple times, that he was shocked to learn about them. We know this is not true, because he had known for three years and he did nothing. It is obvious the minister never intended to act on this misconduct, and instead Liberals actually threatened members of the Armed Forces in order to keep them quiet.

National Defence  Mr. Speaker, one is either part of the investigation or part of the coverup. There is no middle ground. The minister chose to turn a blind eye, and he helped cover it up. I believed the Ombudsman when he said that he tried to show the minister evidence, and the minister said, “No, I don't want to see it.”

National Defence  Mr. Speaker, in November 2017, the Prime Minister said in an interview that when there are questions of sexual misconduct many times Liberals know but say nothing. It is 2021, and it is still happening. The Liberal Minister of Defence knew. He said nothing. Privy Council members knew.
