Privilege  Mr. Speaker, I do not know in what world people think, even when they are angry or when they are emotional, that they can go and physically touch somebody. That is something we all recognize is just an absolute no. A school teacher cannot do it. Nobody in a workplace can do it. It is just an absolute no.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, the Liberals have created massive uncertainty when it comes to building pipelines. Nothing new is being proposed and current projects like the Trans Mountain expansion, proposed because of Conservative leadership, created a stable investment environment in Canada. Are the Liberals at all concerned that companies like TransCanada are taking good jobs to Mexico instead of creating jobs right here in Canada?

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, red tape and political interference is not leadership. It sends the wrong signal to new investment. Even John Manley said that the Liberals have consultation constipation. When will the Liberals get out of the way and allow jobs to be created in the oil sector?

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, it is not just forestry; it is Canadian pipelines that are leaving Canada. In fact, in the last six months there have been no new pipeline projects proposed. Instead, Canadian pipelines are being built in other countries. TransCanada's pipeline building in Mexico is just the latest example.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, Canada is developing a bad investment reputation because of the uncertainty the Liberals have created. At the same time, countries like Mexico are welcoming Canadian oil companies. Canada has one of the best reputations when it comes to our regulatory system, responsible natural resources development, and our standard of living.

Oil and Gas Industry  Mr. Speaker, we have heard from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Safety in terms of what the government is doing to help the people of Fort McMurray. However, we have not heard anything yet from the Minister of Natural Resources in terms of the effect the fires are having on oil production in Canada.

Oil and Gas Industry  Mr. Speaker, absolutely, people's safety is of the utmost importance, but it is important that these people know that they have a job to go back to when they can go back home. They also need to know that the Minister of Natural Resources understands the serious implications of these oil productions being shut down.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, it is not just all of these vanity trips, it is the Liberals' unbelievable sense of entitlement. Let us be honest: The Prime Minister has never actually needed to work a day in his life, yet he feels it is completely acceptable to take money from hard-working moms and dads and get special privileges.

Ethics  Mr. Speaker, while the Prime Minister was campaigning, he said that millionaire families like his did not need taxpayer-funded child care, but as soon as he was elected, he stripped Canadian families of the universal child care benefit and gave himself a $100,000-a-year child care benefit.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I am typically the first to get in a good partisan jab here and there. I definitely think that there are members of the government who want to shut this down quickly, get it over with, and move on to something else. However, I have to believe that there are members of the Liberal Party, members of Parliament who are part of the Liberal caucus, who have some of the same concerns we have, and my hope is that they will speak up.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, those are very important questions. As my colleague has said, one of the things we have not done is that no parliament has used the notwithstanding clause. Those are discussions we almost do not want to talk about because there seems to be some negativity. Even now, if the current government were to talk about it in any context, there would probably be some.

Criminal Code  Madam Speaker, I am going to try to watch my time, and I hope to be on the same timeline as you are. I am grateful to have the opportunity to speak to Bill C-14, which is a bill that makes amendments to the Criminal Code and other acts that would, for the first time in Canadian history, make it legal for someone to have medical assistance in taking his or her own life.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, it is no secret the Prime Minister surrounds himself with anti-oil activists, people like Zoe Caron who believes fossil fuels must stay in the ground, or his principal secretary who compares supporting oil to encouraging children to smoke. Well, the Liberals have their way.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, the people in Alberta are looking for a government that will proudly stand up for Canadian oil and gas, not act coy and shy when it becomes convenient for it. If that is not bad enough, the Minister of Environment says that over time they are going to block development in the oil sands.

Chase Martens  Mr. Speaker, on March 22, tragedy hit southern Manitoba and captured the attention of many Canadians. It was on this day that little Chase Martens wandered away from his home and did not return. Like so many others, I prayed that Chase would come home to his parents, Destiny Turner and Thomas Martens, and his siblings, safe and sound.
