Environment committee  These investments are creating thousands and thousands of jobs. In fact, we would have created more than 25,000 person-years' worth of employment to date, with 1,000 more coming. Beyond the multiplier effect for small and medium-sized enterprises, we're also working to build capacity, so we're using apprenticeship programs.

Business of Supply  He concludes: Across Canada, we estimate that the $550-million left in the hands of small businesses will lead to 25,000 person years of employment in the next few years. Clearly, small business owners and their representatives know that our efforts to reduce their costs are making a real difference in creating jobs.

Economic Action Plan 2014 Act, No. 2  I was in committee and heard the Parliamentary Budget Officer's report, but at the end of the day, CFIB is the leading spokesman for small business in Canada, and it said this would create not only 25,000 person years of employment but also additional training to help small businesses grow their businesses. When we look at New Brunswick where probably 80% or more of the businesses have fewer than 10 employees, we see we are talking about a significant number of our small businesses that would be able to take advantage of that.

Economic Action Plan 2014 Act, No. 2  We seem to always to use the CFIB when it is convenient for us, and the other party uses it when it is convenient for them. The CFIB has clearly stated that it sees this as creating 25,000 person-years of employment. I hope that I did not hear the member say that he is discounting the CFIB's analysis on this refund.

Finance committee  This is a tax refund to job creators so that they can continue to create jobs and spend the money on their priorities as they wish. It's an incentive for growth, and the CFIB expects 25,000 person-years of jobs to be created as a result of this. Small businesses are big job creators in our economy, and what's good for small business is good for Canadians and good for employers and employees.

Finance committee  Our department has looked at the impact of these 780,000 individual companies on a macro basis and we're comfortable with that. the CFIB projects that this measure will create 25,000 person-years of employment, it is relying on experts' analyses.

Finance committee  The department looked at the measure in relation to the businesses that would be affected by it, and then we relied specifically on the analysis of the Canadian federation, which, as I said, concluded that it would create 25,000 person-years of employment.

Finance committee  The government has relied on the analysis of those who are the small business experts, those who actually represent small business, which is the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, and it estimated that the $550-million EI payroll tax reduction for some 780,000 companies will create 25,000 person-years of employment.

Finance committee  This will make it easier to hire new workers or invest in additional training to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses. In fact, CFIB estimates that this credit will create 25,000 person years of employment over the next few years. I know there are two witnesses on this. But in 30 seconds or a little more, why is CFIB incorrect on this? They've clearly stated their position in support of this policy change.

Finance committee  The Canadian Federation of Independent Business, which represents 109,000 small businesses across the country, says that our new small business job credit will create 25,000 person-years of employment. I'm curious as to why your job estimates would vary so greatly from theirs.

Finance committee  The government is citing the CFIB's numbers in terms of potential job creation, saying that this job credit will create 25,000 person-years of employment. Are you aware of any internal government analysis in addition to the CFIB analysis?

Scott BrisonLiberal

Employment Insurance  Speaker, as opposition members know, the small business job credit will create, according to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, over 25,000 person-years of employment. It would reduce the cost for the employers of most Canadians, and 780,000 companies, over 90% of businesses, would benefit. This is a good jobs and growth program for small business.
