Business of Supply  Let us look at what the Conservatives do when it comes to, in particular, renewable energy and green energy. They will copy the playbook of Doug Ford, who ripped electric vehicle charging stations out of the GO stations, and for what purpose? Spite could be the only reason. They cancelled renewable energy contracts throughout the province of Ontario.

Business of Supply  They try to hide their plan but we know what it really is. It is austerity. It is going to be cuts, just like Doug Ford. That is going to hurt Bramptonians. It is going to hurt Canadians. We will not see the type growth that is needed in this country when those cuts are made. In conclusion, I would like to say this.

Business of Supply  The people in Brampton North are telling me that they are paying for the mistakes of the current Prime Minister. The member spoke about the Doug Ford government. I think she knows that Ontario is struggling under the crushing debt and deficit that are the legacy of the Kathleen Wynne government. We want to make sure things do not get that bad at the national level.

Business of Supply  That is why it is going to be interesting when we hear the Conservative Party talk about cuts. That is what is going to happen. Just like Stephen Harper and Doug Ford, we are going to see cuts. Are the Conservatives going to be telling their constituents who are receiving those benefits that we are going to be taking away a portion or all of them?

Business of Supply  We are years and years later and this bunch is talking about maybe having some housing after the next election, maybe having housing if we get buy-in from some of the provinces. We have a Doug Ford government in Ontario and I do not expect to see any housing anytime soon, unless there is a NDP government in the country in 2019.

Carbon Pricing  It is clear that the hon. member does not believe me, so I would direct him to the testimony that was given by Mark Cameron, Stephen Harper's former director of policy. If he does not accept him, I would direct him to Doug Ford's chief budget adviser who told us previously—

Carbon Pricing  Speaker, I am glad to have the opportunity to provide some further information, because it is not just me who is putting this information forward. As I mentioned, Stephen Harper's former director policy supports our plan. Doug Ford's chief budget adviser said that the single most effective thing we could do to transition to a low-carbon economy would be to put a price on pollution. The winner of last year's Nobel Prize in Economics won the prize for developing this kind of a plan.

Business of Supply  Let me then move on to what the problem is with the NDP motion before us. First of all, it is akin to the way Doug Ford campaigns. It is like the buck-a-beer promise. It is real easy to make, but when we start asking New Democrats to explain it, it begins to get a little fuzzy as to how they are going to deliver it.

Official Languages  Uncertainty about the future of New Brunswick's linguistic duality is just one of many threats facing Canada's official languages. Other examples, such as the Doug Ford Conservatives' decision to abolish the Office of the French Language Services Commissioner and scrap plans for a Franco-Ontarian university, and uncertainty around the possible abolition of school boards in Quebec, point to an urgent need to take action.

International Trade  We have already provided $624 million in support to companies and workers, and we quickly imposed counter-tariffs, perfectly matched, to protect our workers. Meanwhile, Doug Ford's Conservatives are calling for us to unilaterally surrender to the Americans by unconditionally removing our tariffs. While our government is fighting for our workers, all the Conservatives can do is surrender.

International Trade  Mr. Speaker, the problem here is not Doug Ford. It is the Prime Minister's mistake of giving in to Donald Trump. What is important here is the Canadian economy and Canadian jobs. Manufacturers across Canada cannot afford to continue to pay for the Prime Minister's mistakes.

International Trade  Meanwhile, the Conservatives want to surrender. Instead of trying to score cheap political points on the backs of our workers, Doug Ford and his Conservative friends on the other side of the aisle should join us and stand up for Canadians.

Business of Supply  Preston Manning, who I think everyone in the House would recognize as a household name, is advocating to put a price on pollution. Even members of Doug Ford's team in Ontario testified before Parliament just a few years ago that the single most effective tool we had for transition to a low-carbon economy was to put a price on pollution.

Business of Supply  The parliamentary secretary made a very ill-advised tweet on the weekend, calling for the Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, to be whacked. I invite the parliamentary secretary to reflect on his minister's mandate letter that states, “Canadians expect us, in our work, to reflect the values we all embrace: inclusion, honesty, hard work, fiscal prudence, and generosity of spirit.”
