Members not seeking re-election to the 42nd Parliament  This was a $10-million project dedicated to the improvement of an important place in city of Medicine Hat. I am happy I could play a part in that, as well as in all the millions of dollars of funding right across our constituency. There has been the port of Wild Horse, which is an ongoing concern for the people of the Medicine Hat constituency.

The Budget  Our economic action plan contains a number of initiatives that will be particularly beneficial to the people of the Medicine Hat constituency, whom I have had the tremendous honour and privilege of representing here in the House of Commons since 2008. I will talk a little bit about all of them. A very important part of this plan encourages investment in Canada's manufacturing sector.

Public Safety committee  Thank you, Chair. Just to talk to the smaller airports, I live in Medicine Hat, where there's a smaller airport with four and maybe five flights a day, and certainly there aren't police officers there at all times. You've talked about the schedule, but I can tell you that in fact in Medicine Hat we have a lot of flights cancelled because the airline isn't doing what it maybe should be doing in terms of getting the passengers to their next destination.

Prairie Gleaners Society  Having tasted the delicious soups from the packages that I made myself as a volunteer, I am pleased that such an efficient and helpful volunteer operation is run out of Medicine Hat. I wish all of the volunteers, the caring folks who give so much of their time to make the Prairie Gleaners run on a daily basis, all the best in the future.

Public Safety committee  On the storage and transportation, just in terms of the paintball guns and trigger locks, we have a huge paintball area just outside of Medicine Hat, and I know there are a lot of people who go there. I'm wondering if you could talk a bit about the use of paintball air guns and also what you see in terms of storing those and the paint pellets.

South Alberta Light Horse  Speaker, I am honoured to speak about the South Alberta Light Horse, Alberta's regiment, which is based in my riding of Medicine Hat. I was fortunate to be able to attend the change of command ceremony, which took place September 14, at the Court of Queen's Bench in Medicine Hat. Lieutenant Colonel Colin Michaud, who has served with distinction as regimental commander since 2011, passed the baton to Lieutenant Colonel Troy Steele who is very enthusiastic about serving as the new regimental commanding officer.

Public Safety committee  Minister, it's interesting: you talked about the inventive ways in which people can bring drugs into prisons. I happened to attend the remand centre in Medicine Hat with the Solicitor General of Alberta, and we actually talked about it. In fact, they have this open yard area where the inmates go to get some exercise and so on. They actually ended up having to put nets over top of the yard because people were throwing in projectiles and getting drugs into the prison.

Medicine Hat Volunteer  Speaker, it is my great privilege to stand here today to talk about one of my constituents, Evelyn Stall. Evelyn has been a very active volunteer in Medicine Hat and elsewhere for over 80 years. At 95 years young, Evelyn is as active as ever in voluntary activities. Here are just a few examples of her dedication. In the past, Evelyn has served as a volunteer on the City of Medicine Hat Transit Advisory Board, the Medicine Hat Police Service Restorative Justice study committee, the Volunteers in Action Association, the Needs of the Elderly Planning Committee, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Canadian Mental Health Association and City of Medicine Hat Senior Services.

Agriculture committee  Thank you, Chair, and thank you to our witnesses for coming and enduring the discussion we had. Speaking of bison, the former member of Parliament for Medicine Hat, Bob Porter, is in my riding and, guess what he has?

Agriculture committee  It was a great tour to see exactly what the process is and how it's done. On that note, there was an article in today's paper, I think in Medicine Hat News. I don't know if you've seen it or not, but you folks have sent an amazing amount of food and nutrition around the world. I think you said 55 different countries. Not all of that comes from Medicine Hat, does it?

Common Sense Firearms Licensing Act  It hurt farmers, it hurt ranchers, and it hurt sport shooters. I have a lot of friends in my riding of Medicine Hat who are passionate, safe gun owners, and this bill, I believe, would help those individuals. I would ask the minister to comment further on how this bill would help hunters, sport shooters, farmers, and ranchers in my riding.

Petitions  Mr. Speaker, I have a petition to present to the House from my constituents in Medicine Hat. They say that law-abiding Canadian citizens should be free to use firearms for recreational use and that the current ability of the RCMP and bureaucrats to make decisions on the spot regarding the classification of guns impedes the rights of law-abiding Canadians.

Natural Resources committee  Thank you, Chair, and thank you to our witnesses for coming. My riding is Medicine Hat. Many of you may have actually heard about Rudyard Kipling and what he said about Medicine Hat, that it has “all hell for a basement”, meaning plenty of natural gas, a lot of shallow gas.

The Budget  This budget is great for the people of my home province of Alberta, as well as the people in my riding of Medicine Hat, which I am so very proud to represent in Ottawa. This budget is indeed good news for my constituents. There are a number of initiatives that will be beneficial to them, and I appreciate the opportunity to enumerate some of those in the time I have today.

Agriculture committee  Thank you, Ministers, for coming today. It's obviously a really important issue that we're working on here. I'm from Medicine Hat, and we're captive to the CPR, and have been captive for as long as I can recall. I worked for an international petrochemical company, and I can tell you that regularly, there were difficulties with the CPR.
