Mr. Speaker, as we are wrapping up this legislative session before we head back to our ridings, I am reminded of the time, the commitment, and the responsibility we carry with this job. For 12 and a half years, I have had the privilege of serving my constituents in Lambton—Kent—Middlesex, and I am not done yet. We all know that this job requires the support of our families, our significant others, and our spouses. For me, my biggest supporter is my wife, Barb. Sometimes I need that person in front of me to slow me down, and sometimes at the end of the day, I need that little bit of wind at my back.
No, it it not her birthday, and it is not our anniversary. It is simply that I want to say to her, “Thank you, and you're the best.”
Business of Supply June 12th, 2018
Mr. Speaker, one of the things we heard earlier was the importance of meeting our international commitments. However, what we never hear, and what we have tried to find out from the Liberal government, is the cost of the carbon tax to families and small businesses, businesses that create jobs. The Liberals know the cost, but they do not want to share that with Canadians. It is a hypothetical case that we need to improve, without having any cost or knowing the degree of environmental improvement that will happen.
Therefore, knowing that Canada is such a small producer of greenhouse gases, does the member know what it will cost and what the benefits will be in a drop in greenhouse gases?
Petitions June 11th, 2018
Madam Speaker, section 2 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms identifies, among other things, freedom of conscience, freedom of thought, and freedom of belief as fundamental freedoms. The Government of Canada must defend these rights of all Canadians, regardless of whether the Liberal government agrees with specific views held by individual Canadians. We believe the current government's proposed attestation requiring Canada summer jobs program applicants to hold the same views as the government would contravene the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Therefore, these hundreds of petitioners call upon the Prime Minister to defend the freedoms of conscience, thought, and belief and withdraw the attestation requirement for applicants to the Canada summer jobs program.

Mr. Speaker, I remember a little while ago seeing a colleague or a friend of mine on the other side vote twice. I thought I would try it; it is wrong. I do want my vote to count as a yes.
Budget Implementation Act, 2018, No. 1 June 5th, 2018
Mr. Speaker, my colleague from Ottawa South talked about the importance of measurables. We have a $7.2-billion slush fund. I do not see anywhere in the budget where that will be measurable, because I do not believe it is designated for anything. The other part is the carbon tax. Let us measure its cost in terms of its benefit for a family. I do not think we see that. Would both of those be measurable if we had the numbers?
