Conservative MP for Charlesbourg—Haute-Saint-Charles (Québec)

Won his last election, in 2025, with 42% of the vote.

Statements in the House

Canada Revenue Agency October 20th, 2020

Mr. Speaker, the Canada Revenue Agency sent letters to hundreds of Canadians, warning them that there may be a problem with their bank account number and that there was a risk of fraud. Several MPs received complaints from constituents saying that they called the number given, but there was no answer. We tried to get in touch ourselves. As MPs, we have a direct number, but we did not get an answer either. Can the minister tell us what is going on?

Foreign Affairs October 19th, 2020

Mr. Speaker, 12 young activists from Hong Kong were arrested while trying to leave Hong Kong and are now in prison in communist China. These young people are fighting bravely for democracy and trying to find ways to escape human rights abuses in China. Furthermore, the Chinese ambassador to Canada had the nerve to directly threaten the security of Canadians in Hong Kong.

When will the minister release a clear plan to help Hong Kong's pro-democracy refugees and the 300,000 Canadians living in Hong Kong?

Health October 5th, 2020

Mr. Speaker, the Gatineau hospital bought a state-of-the-art rapid testing machine. The Quebec minister of families, Mathieu Lacombe, said that this is like we have a Ferrari in the garage and are just waiting for permission to drive it.

What is the federal government waiting for? When will it give the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de l'Outaouais the green light?

Health October 5th, 2020

Mr. Speaker, that is precisely why the comments made by the member for Gatineau are shameful.

At a time when we should be grateful to health care professionals, the Liberals are attacking them. So many of our health care workers are tired, overworked and in need of support. Instead, the member for Gatineau chooses to insult health care workers by questioning their procurement strategy and management skills.

Will the Prime Minister stand up in the House and apologize for his paternalistic attitude toward the Government of Quebec, yes or no?

Health October 5th, 2020

Mr. Speaker, in the Liberal Party, the arrogance starts at the top and trickles down to its members. I implore this government to stop wasting time and make rapid testing a priority.

Instead of taking responsibility for their inaction, they blame others. Last week, the member for Gatineau attacked Outaouais health officials, saying that decisions are often made in the Outaouais that leave people confused about health.

Will the Prime Minister take him to task and ask him to apologize?

Public Services and Procurement October 2nd, 2020

This is rather odd, Mr. Speaker. Red Deer—Lacombe is a Conservative riding and businesses in the region do no have any contracts. Local businesses in Portneuf—Jacques-Cartier, which is also a Conservative riding, do not have any contracts. However, Frank Baylis, a Liberal, received $237 million.

Is there a tendency to give contracts to the Liberals' friends, yes or no?

Public Services and Procurement October 2nd, 2020

Mr. Speaker, who is on the ground? It is doctors and front-line workers.

The president of the CMA, Dr. Collins, said that masks, surgical gowns, gloves and face shields were necessary for every visit. They have no choice. It was already a problem in August, even before the current spike in cases and requests for COVID-19 tests, and the reopening of schools. There is a problem and even community doctors are quite concerned. We would like more transparency, more clarity.

What is the current plan to protect Canadians?

Public Services and Procurement October 2nd, 2020

Mr. Speaker, there are other groups, including the Canadian Medical Association, that are very concerned. They are asking questions because they are still having a hard time getting protection equipment. Members of the Canadian Medical Association and experts have been sounding the alarm for the past seven months. Fifty-four per cent of their members are still having difficulty getting equipment and 86% of members are quite worried.

If the Prime Minister has a distribution plan, could he share it with us now?

Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for his question, and I would remind him that, in the last election campaign, the Conservative Party had the most detailed environmental platform. It was even more detailed than that of the Green Party.

They keep bringing up oil and Alberta. However, as far as I know, 95% or more of Canadians still drive a gas-powered vehicle, and Canada still has to import oil from other countries.

As long as there are cars, planes and boats, which will not be fuelled by electricity anytime soon, we will need oil. Why not source it in our own country, from our own natural resources?

Of course, this does not prevent us from developing other resources and tools to be more environmentally friendly. That is why we are proposing to export Canadian know-how. There are countries that need our help reducing their environmental footprint.

Mr. Speaker, I thank my colleague for her question.

Earlier I mentioned compassion. We are capable of compassion. Some people like to label the Conservatives as being cold and heartless, but that is entirely untrue.

Some CERB recipients were not able to save money to pay their taxes or did not know that they would have to pay taxes. A lot of things can happen, and these people will have problems.

I certainly do not feel sorry for people who accessed the CERB even though they knew that they were not entitled. However, I am open to some sort of grace period for people who have problems, for whatever reason.
