Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, I will take this opportunity to answer the question by addressing the court's ruling today on TMX, because we know that in Canada in the 21st century, good projects can only move forward when we consult and address environmental concerns and the concerns of indigenous communities and local communities.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, today, work on the greater Edmonton pipeline construction is under way. Work at the Edmonton terminal and the Kamloops terminal is under way. Work at stockpile sites at North Gate, Merritt, Enoch Cree and Edson is under way. Work at pump stations in Edson, Hinton and Black Pines is under way.

The Canada Energy Regulator is a new, modern and world-class federal energy regulator with the required independence and the proper accountability to oversee a strong, safe and sustainable Canadian energy sector in the 21st century.

Questions on the Order Paper  Mr. Speaker, with regard to (a), natural climate solutions like planting trees can help get Canada significantly closer to reaching its emissions reduction targets while creating good, well-paying jobs for Canadians. The government is committed to working with experts to design a suite of natural climate solutions that will reduce emissions by an estimated 30 megatonnes by 2030.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, just to remind everyone, LNG Canada represents the single-largest private sector investment in Canadian history. It is a $40-billion investment that is going to create 10,000 jobs at the height of construction and hundreds of millions of dollars in construction contracts for indigenous businesses, all while having the lowest carbon intensity of any large-scale LNG facility in the world and helping to reduce coal plant emissions in Asian markets.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, I acknowledge that “somewhat good” is not good enough, but I would ask, if a government was not able to get TMX built, and if a government was not able to get Line 3 completed on the Canadian side of the border, what grade would we give that? I would give it an F.

Natural Resources  Mr. Speaker, we on this side of the House understand that the sector is going through some trying times, but we know that it is getting better with the construction of the TMX pipeline. We know that it is getting better with Line 3, which is coming into service now on the Canadian side of the border.

The Environment  Mr. Speaker, we acknowledge the commissioner's recommendations and we are taking action to follow up on them. Our government has always been clear that we will meet and surpass our 2030 climate targets, and we believe that this plan will get us there. If we need to do more, we will.
