Oceans Act  They deny the existence of climate change, which is in their policy and which is in their friend Doug Ford's policy in Ontario. To stand in this place and criticize us when the hon. member does not even know the difference between climate and weather is just shocking.

Social Development  The Conservative leader voted against making it tax free. If people want to know what the Conservatives' plan for children is, let them look at Doug Ford's war on children in Ontario. It is what happens when a Conservative government tries to campaign without a platform. The Ontario Conservatives have cut teachers for kids. They have cut libraries for kids.

Canadian Heritage committee  I'm wondering what you'd think if a bunch of kids decided to buy all the tomatoes in grocery stores in the GTA, and one U.S. company said they were going to start “Tomato-matic” to resell all these tomatoes and they'll just grab a person to sell to all these individually and make these sales. Would you think that Doug Ford would say that's okay—that's great? It's the same situation. Clearly, no matter the topic or the product, this systematization of an individual opportunity is what's making it a big problem.

Tourism  For 10 years, the Conservatives failed to understand that. Harper made cuts to Destination Canada's budget, and now Doug Ford is cutting the province's tourism budget. It is very clear that the tourism sector is not a priority for these Conservatives. Can the Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie reassure the hard-working people of the tourism sector what our government is doing to support them better?

National Nursing Week  I have seen this first-hand during my experiences as a nurse and during visits to Brampton Civic Hospital in our community. At a time when our health care is under attack through the cuts imposed by Doug Ford and the Conservatives, our government will continue to stand together with nurses and health care providers to ensure healthy communities for all Canadians. I encourage everyone to join me in thanking the nurses in our communities for their tireless service, advocacy and leadership.

Infrastructure  That bridge was in danger of being swept away in the flood and had to be closed last week. The new Conservative government of Doug Ford has signed off on the Petawawa bridge, when the old, tired Liberal Party of Ontario would not. The biggest scandal of the last three and a half years has been the total neglect of Canada's physical infrastructure.

Business of Supply  That is the real challenge. Why is the Conservative Party working along with individuals like Doug Ford to try to say no to a price on pollution when so many other countries around the world are recognizing it as a good thing?

Carbon Pricing  If members do not believe me, they can look to Mark Cameron, Stephen Harper's former director of policy, or Preston Manning. They could even look to Doug Ford's chief budget adviser, who actually testified to that in the Senate in 2016. This time—

Democratic Reform  Unfortunately, it is only the Conservatives who are refusing to have their platform costed. The only reason that can be is that we know the Conservatives are following the lead of Doug Ford and want to keep Canadians in the dark. We know the Conservatives do not support the tax-free Canada child benefit. We know they do not support the increase to the GIS. We know they do not support home care and other services.

Ethics  That is why today we find that they do not even want to cost their electoral platform, because they want to mislead Canadians, just like Doug Ford did.

International Trade  I would like the House to know that today we have learned that the Leader of the Opposition is refusing to allow an independent check on the cost of their promises. I think Conservatives are hiding in the same way Doug Ford is hiding very big cuts.

Business of Supply  They try to hide their plan but we know what it really is. It is austerity. It is going to be cuts, just like Doug Ford. That is going to hurt Bramptonians. It is going to hurt Canadians. We will not see the type growth that is needed in this country when those cuts are made. In conclusion, I would like to say this.

Budget Implementation Act, 2019, No. 1  We all seem to agree that these projects cannot open up soon enough. However, it seems that Doug Ford does not want to invest, does not want to create jobs. Time is running out. The summer construction season is practically under way. Unions, trade associations and contractors are speaking up.

Business of Supply  There are additional investments like the $7.5 billion for child care and early learning across the country. These dollars are preventing Doug Ford from cancelling many day care programs right across the province, as I speak. There are additional dollars for programs like the Canada child benefit. The Canada child benefit has been the cornerstone of our government's success in lifting 900,000 Canadians out of poverty.

Environment committee  We also need to use evidence and use measures that we know work, which include putting a price on pollution. Unfortunately, Andrew Scheer and Doug Ford don't seem to understand the science behind climate change or the evidence of what policies, like putting a price on pollution, work.
