Business of Supply  What is going to happen with these recommendations? The recommendations made to SDTC will not be followed up on, since SDTC no longer exists. That raises a lot of questions. The government has disavowed an entity that receives public funds, that has a responsibility to taxpayers, that has a dual responsibility: properly managing the public funds it receives and stimulating a part of the economy essential to our future.

Miscarriage of Justice Review Commission Act (David and Joyce Milgaard's Law)  Similar independent commissions have been established elsewhere in the world. We are not the first to reach this important step. In 1997, a commission was created for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scotland created its commission in 1997. The State of North Carolina established a commission in 2006, and New Zealand created theirs in 2020.

Canadian Heritage committee  I am also definitely prepared to amend this portion of the bill about the consultation of provincial governments to ensure that when the definitive version has been reached, francophone communities outside of Quebec, and the groups that represent them, can feel reassured about the legislation we are working towards.

Canadian Heritage committee  We're happy to support this motion. I think it sends an important message. I think it's great that agreement has been reached. Having said that, I think the fact that we haven't been able to watch hockey games on the CBC up to now is a problem. I think it's a very strong message to send on behalf of Canadians that, as a committee, we support the CBC showing the playoffs.

Canadian Heritage committee  I also think it's important to note that, in fact, the rights holder is Rogers, which paid $5.2 billion for the rights through 2025-26, but thanks to an arrangement that's been reached between Rogers and CBC, we don't even need to worry about this motion or vote for it because the CBC is already broadcasting the NHL Stanley Cup finals in which the Edmonton Oilers, I predict, will win the Stanley Cup.

Environment committee  I would like to request that every one of the companies table their specific plans and the investments they're going to be making that have been board approved to get to net zero, with the 2030 interim targets, and what investments you have made and are going to make to reach those goals, because, while words are good, actions are better. Thank you.

International Trade committee  We think it's very important that sustainability at a global level not be used as a disguised trade barrier. We do think that sustainable trade has a very key role to play in reaching our sustainability goals.

International Trade committee  None of the opposition parties have been asked to be involved. Now, I'm kind of curious, Mr. Lemaire. Has either Minister Ng or Minister Champagne reached out to your organization to talk about team Canada?

International Trade committee  No. We've reached out to the government and made some invitations to come speak.

International Trade committee  As am I, as is everybody in this room, I'm sure, but have the ministers reached out to you directly to get your guidance? You could provide tremendous insight in what we should be doing in regard to team Canada.

Business of Supply  They made sure that we, the official opposition, moved this investigation forward until it reached the point where the Auditor General was asked to investigate to get to the bottom of things. The Auditor General made it clear that the responsibility lies squarely with the industry minister.

Environment committee  Data published by the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers confirmed earlier this year that investment in the sector would reach $40.6 billion in 2024 and that those funds would be invested in increased operations and production, not decarbonization measures, for no other reason than to maximize your profits. You can't even allocate the equivalent of one year's profits to the climate transition or to adapting your workers' skills so they can work in the renewable energy industry.

Public Accounts committee  The Gane Yohs medical centre of the Six Nations of the Grand River is the sole medical centre with federal employees providing vital dental and sexual health services. It was compelled to close due to a mould infestation. They reached out to you personally. You refused to meet with them. This scenario should highlight the urgency of the situation. When will your ministry earnestly address these matters, prioritize funding for this crucial medical centre and provide a meaningful response to the Six Nations community?

Public Accounts committee  I would ask that if you have particular first nations that are not happy with their 10-year agreements, have them reach out to my office.

Environment committee  In 2023 we reported a 20% reduction in absolute emissions from 2018 levels and a 40% reduction in our methane emissions. We're encouraged by these results and focused on reaching our 2050 net-zero target. As we look to ensure Canada's investment in its natural gas infrastructure remains used and useful, we're investing in low-carbon fuels that can be blended with natural gas.
