I'd like to call this meeting to order.
Good morning. Welcome to meeting number 40 of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food.
Today's meeting is taking place in a hybrid format, pursuant to the Standing Orders. Members are attending in person in the room and remotely by using the Zoom application.
Before we continue, I'd like to ask all in-person participants to consult the guidelines written on the back of the cards on the table. These measures are in place to help prevent audio and feedback incidents and to protect the health and safety of all participants, including our interpreters. You'll also notice a QR code on the card that links to a short awareness video.
I'd like to make a few comments for the benefit of witnesses and members.
Please wait to speak until I recognize you by name or until you're asked a question directly by members.
For those participating by video conference, click on the microphone icon to activate your mic before speaking, and please mute yourself when you're not speaking. For those on Zoom, at the bottom of your screen you can select the appropriate channel—floor, English or French—for interpretation. For those in the room, you can use your earpiece and select the desired channel.
I'd like to remind witnesses that committee members may ask questions in either French or English. If you will need interpretation, please take a moment now to prepare the earpiece and select the listening channel in advance in order to take full advantage of the time allotted.
I will give a reminder that all comments should be addressed through the chair. For members in the room, if you wish to speak, please raise your hand. For members on Zoom, please use the “raise hand” function. The clerk and I will manage the speaking order as best we can. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this regard.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the committee is resuming its study on food security in the face of global instability.
I'd like to welcome the witnesses who are joining us today.
From the Association des producteurs maraîchers du Québec, we have Patrice Léger Bourgoin. From the Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada, we have Marcus Janzen. Appearing alongside the Fruit and Vegetable Growers, we have the Greenhouse Produce Alliance of Canada and Julie Paillat. From the Union des producteurs agricoles de Portneuf, we have Christian Hébert, who is the president.
Each group will have five minutes, and then we'll go into questions.
We will start with the Association des producteurs maraîchers du Québec.
Welcome.
