I share that view. It would be difficult to speak to the merits of such an initiative at this stage.

That would be difficult to assess, but I personally don't expect that there would be a huge increase. There hasn't been. I worked at the Department of Foreign Affairs for a number of years. There are other channels for other countries to obtain information from the Government of Canada. I don't think they would necessarily be using the Access to Information Act . There has been talk of universal access for the past 30 years, so I'm all for it, but I don't think it would have a huge direct impact on our current situation.
