Mr. Speaker, I thought no one would ask. This morning we made an announcement by which 60% of the rent will be cut in every airport in Canada, saving $8 billion for the airline industry and the travelling public. I want to thank the Minister of Finance for his contribution to this decision.

This is the best news the aviation sector has had in years.

Mr. Speaker, in my capacity as Minister of Transport, I would point out that negotiations have been ongoing on this particular matter between the municipalities and the various stakeholders for the past nine years. Government Contracts April 22nd, 2005

Mr. Speaker, perhaps the member read the Globe and Mail yesterday. Campbell Clark wrote in an article that Michel Lemay says that he also emphasized that Mr. Lapierre is an old friend of Mr. Duffar, and that he was not paid for having organized the meeting with Mr. Gagliano.

It is extremely clear. I was not paid for setting up this meeting—not this meeting or any other.

Airline Industry April 20th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, because of the representations of this caucus and of airport authorities across the country, we will find a more equitable formula before the end of June.

Airline Industry April 20th, 2005

Mr. Speaker, the Deputy Prime Minister has made so many representations on this topic that I know we are going to have some action. I am working diligently with the Minister of Finance and this issue will be solved.
