Pediatric palliative care specialists need to be involved in assessing these children and making sure they truly have explored all options that are available. It's sort of “you don't know what you don't know” in some cases. Someone might feel they are doing a fabulous job of doing that exploration, but it really takes a team effort of specialists in the area. For me, that would be the minimum to have available.
