The Bloc Québécois is in favour of the motion. My colleague spoke about the impact on mental health and on women, but I would like to hear him talk about the fact that many workers are self-employed.

Does he believe that defining self-employment could prevent discrimination between self-employed workers and salaried employees, depending on the type of business?

Madam Speaker, beyond the safety and security problems that might arise from a snap election, I wondering about the fact that the legislative measures would be temporary and would apply only to an election called 90 days after the bill received royal assent. Often, however, temporary measures brought in by governments become permanent ones. Is it possible that this could happen here?

Mr. Speaker, I want to thank my colleague from Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie for his speech.

I would like him to expand on his thoughts about women often being the most affected by the issue of insufficient income.

[Criminal Code, February 23rd, 2021]

Madam Speaker, I want to thank my colleague from Kingston and the Islands for his very heartfelt and personal speech. He has demonstrated compassion with regard to this bill.

Everyone has their own experience with death and the choices that can be made. The Bloc Québécois finds that the Senate amendments to expand medical assistance in dying are relevant.

However, given that health transfers are being reduced, does my colleague believe that the current government should perhaps increase them so the provinces can provide adequate health services for end-of-life care?

Madam Speaker, I thank my colleague from Courtenay—Alberni for his presentation. He talked about the events sector and the salmon crisis in his part of the country.

Quebec has an annual springtime event: sugar shacks. This is a very important part of Quebec's agri-tourism sector. Over half the members of the sugar shack operators' association have had to close their doors. The government seems to have forgotten this industry.

Does my colleague think these demands could be expanded to include these people, who are often forgotten but who are responsible for an event that is important to the country?

Mr. Speaker, as everyone knows, the Bloc Québécois will support this motion because we believe that China's measures against the Uighurs are very serious.

I would like my colleague to tell me about the relationship between this government and generous political donors. I would like to know if he thinks the donations from supporters of the Chinese Communist Party might explain the government's dithering over the decision to get involved in countering the Uighur genocide.

Mr. Speaker, I want to begin by congratulating the member for Pierrefonds—Dollard. If I understood correctly, he is going to support this motion, which means that he has the courage to take a stand that is different from that of the government he represents.

I am wondering whether he will vote in favour of this motion. I hope that he will propose action and manage to convince his leader to support this motion. This is a pivotal moment in history and an opportunity for Canada to take a stand against this genocide.

I would like to hear her speak briefly about dairy farmers and supply management.

She mentioned that bilateral trade has had an impact on the blueberry and pepper sectors.

Compared to other sectors, dairy farmers are really getting battered by all this trade and are often forgotten. How does she feel about that?

Madam Speaker, I congratulate my colleague from Elmwood—Transcona for his presentation.

He seems very concerned about the interpreters' quality of life, which is commendable.

Does he not believe that it is important to Quebeckers and Canadians who have many questions about the pandemic to set up a committee to examine these questions?

[Teacher Appreciation Week, February 3rd, 2021]

Mr. Speaker, we are in the middle of Teacher Appreciation Week. On behalf of the Bloc Québécois, and as a former teacher myself, I want to thank them more than ever.

This year's theme is “Thank you for shaping the future of Québec!”. I would add, thank you for shaping the future of Quebec in the unprecedented, complex circumstances of a pandemic. Thank you for being there for our young people with learning disabilities. Thank you for being there for our young people whose mental health is more fragile. Thank you for finding new ways to continue your work in an unfamiliar context. Thank you for being there despite the risks to your health, because our children and grandchildren need you.

We will never forget.
